I noticed other sellers offering a 1 year warranty on used parts. That’s just like going to the casino. I offer a 1 year warranty on my rebuilt lower units. That’s Just like going to the bank. Your choice. 1 year warranty. I am the expert with these lower units. I’ve seen a lot so I know a lot. I can properly fix what others turn in to scrap parts. I am so good that I will stand behind my lower units for a full year. They are that good. Who else will do that? Mercury will not do that on a brand new one. I have sold over 500 of these lower units on eBay as of Jan.01.2021. I know them inside and out. My business is to exceed your expectations. No excuses, just deliver a very high quality part at an affordable price. The best parts just continue to get more expensive every day, but the best parts make the best rebuilds. I’m all about the best. These lower units DO NOT fit the Japanese made Mariner Motors, only the Mariner motors made by Mercury. I’m so confident of my work I’ll stand behind it for 1 full year. If it dosen’t work properly because I didn’t do something right, I’ll fix it. Rest assured when you get your lower unit it will be right. This is a safe bet on my part, because my work is so good, and a safe bet on your part knowing that your lower unit will be right. If you abuse it and it breaks, or bend it, well that’s your problem, I’ll be happy to sell you another. When you buy one of these lower units I will be asking you questions via email to insure I ship what you need. I will also send a Paypal for the core charge. Nothing will happen with your order until I have all the information I need and have secured the core charge, (unless you are sending me your lower unit for rebuild). A big percentage of these lower units go to outboard repair shops across town and across the USA and Canada. I replace bearings and seals with on EVERY lower unit I work on. No question about the quality, no question that they will last, no question you are getting the most for your money. I only use the Mercury Quicksilver kits for a good reason. They are the best parts, good enough for me. But what I really like is the fill and drain plug screw gaskets. Normally they are a fiber gasket material. Not very strong and it is not uncommon to see one broken. Broken seal = water in your lower unit. Mercury’s seal washer is a plastic/metal composite that will not break but will still conform and seal. Very good idea. See picture #4 for a picture of a fiber seal and a Mercury composite seal. Look closely at picture #5. These are the new parts every lower unit gets. Pictures above are stock photos. The lower units I have in this listing may or may not be refinished as in picture 1 and 2, What ever you want you will get. You will always get a very presentable lower unit that probably looks better than the one you have. Look at my feedback and the number of these lower units If you want to be assured you are getting what you expect for your money, rest assured no one else even comes close. I am pretty sure no one, anywhere, re-builds more of these lower units than I do. …and no one does it better. All new Mercury Quicksilver. Complete dis assembly and clean and inspection. All re used parts are in perfect used mechanical condition. All junk goes in the scrap barrel. Same parts some eBay sellers sell. Careful reassembly using the right tools makes it right. New water pump impeller. Pressure check. Refilled with Mercury high performance premium synthetic or Amsoil premium synthetic gear lube. This is the best stuff. There are lower units for less money but they will be less value. and…there are also lowers out there for more money. That’s all they are is more money. Not better. No one does the type of work I do on these lower units and sells them for less. Mercury or Mercury Mariner 18, 20 and 25 HP long or short shaft lower unit. These lower units are for the 2 stroke motors and will not interchange with the 4 stroke lower units. If your 4 stroke lower unit repaired contact me, I may be able to help. My latest special tool & I have them all for servicing this lower unit checks the prop shaft for straightness. Satisfactory tolerance from Mercury is .006″ TIR max. Nothing leaves here greater than .0015″ TIR. This helps make for a smooth operating motor and long lasting lower unit. Interesting (and an important note to you) I see a lot of these lower units in my shop, I’ll say 75% of them come in with bent prop shafts. I’m saying bent = anything over .006″ TIR. usually they have a .030″ wobble. You have to look close. Just enough to feel and stress the rest of the motor. Think about it. There is no junk in the box here. What you get is a lower unit is ready to bolt on your motor and use and with proper care will give you years of fun for a fraction of cost of a new one. If you are reading this ad you likely need a lower unit for your Mercury or Mariner 18, 20 or 25 HP motor. Continue reading. All used lower units are not equal. There are good ones and there are some not so good ones. You are a long way from being able to touch the part you are going to buy. You need to depend on what the seller can really tell you about the lower unit they are selling. Most descriptions will state something like “oil looked OK, or “it shifts smooth” or “it turns smooth” or what ever. Bearings or gears can be bad and it can still “feel smooth”. A lube change will yield good looking lube. Lastly what you almost never see is the someone stating the prop shaft is straight, a big percentage of these guys aren’t, and that makes for a motor that vibrates and has future mechanical problems. So, all these “tests” simply don’t really mean a thing, they slightly weigh your odds for the better. You need a lower unit because yours is broken or damaged. That’s a fairly common problem with these motors. The lower units don’t do well with any abuse or mis-use. Although they will “work” if there is any damage inside they likely won’t remain in that working condition for very long. There is only one way to tell if a used lower unit is really good and that’s to take it apart and look. Look at the pictures to see what I have seen. I was a Mercury Certified Mechanic and I have been fixing boat motors longer than I really care to admit. Shipping is in a custom foam lined box that gets your lower unit from here to you looking like it left my shop. Shipping is for lower 48 anywhere else please ask. Lower units that are junk rusted beat to death have no core value. 1st generation lower units where the trim tab bolts to the housing from the bottom thru the trim tab do not qualify as a suitable core. Returned lower units must be rebuildable or have used parts value. Return this lower unit to me using UPS Ground, Fed ex USPS whatever works for you. Keep your tracking number. This core charge is part of this auction and they are my terms. If you are not good with this, you need to move on to the next one.The core is an important part of being able to provide a very high quality part at a very reasonable price. No lower unit to return, or you decide not to return it, I keep the $200, the lower unit has cost you $845 it’s that simple. Return your lower unit to me your cost is $645. I expect you to return your lower unit the same week you get this one. Keep yours for 30 days and the lower unit is yours and the core charge is mine. I did my job without hesitation, you need to do the same. AGAIN: This core charge is part of this auction and they are my terms. If you are not good with this, you need to move on to the next one.
